Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't I download the audio file?
The Web Speech API is a browser-native feature for reading text aloud. It does not expose a way to capture or download the generated audio. If you need an audio file, use a dedicated TTS service like ElevenLabs or Google Cloud TTS.
Why don't I see many voices?
Available voices depend on your operating system and browser. Chrome on Windows typically has more voices than other setups. On macOS/iOS, system voices are used.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The Web Speech API runs entirely in your browser. On desktop Chrome, speech synthesis uses Google's servers. Firefox and Safari process everything locally. No data is sent to Toolozo's servers.
What browsers support Text to Speech?
Text-to-speech via the SpeechSynthesis API is supported in Chrome 33+, Edge 14+, Safari 7+, and Firefox 49+. Internet Explorer is not supported.
